Miniature Pigs have been around since the 1940s. Contrary to popular belief, Mini Pigs are not all Vietnamese Potbellied Pigs—they are a mixed breed of swine, and each farm has its own unique bloodline. Mini Pigs come in a variety of shapes and sizes, so when people ask, "How big do they get?" the answer isn’t straightforward. Their size depends on genetics, lifestyle, environment, and diet.

The claim that all pigs will exceed 100 pounds and continue growing until they are five years old is incorrect. A recent research study comparing Miniature Pigs to farm hogs found that Mini Pigs' growth plates typically close between 16-24 months when maintained on a steady diet. However, if given unlimited feed, they will experience rapid skeletal growth and excessive weight gain.

To put it in perspective—if I, as an adult in my 40s, consume more calories than my body requires, I will continue to gain weight regardless of my age. The same principle applies to pigs. Many people unknowingly overfeed their pigs or provide improper diets, yet they still expect them to remain small. It simply doesn’t work that way.

At the same time, you cannot stunt a pig’s growth by withholding food. If that were possible, every breeder would be producing small pigs—but they aren’t. Underfeeding a pig results in an undernourished, unhealthy animal, not a naturally small one. A malnourished pig will have visible ribs, a raised spine, sunken hips, loose skin, and a protruding back end—not the well-proportioned, healthy Mini Pigs that I raise and showcase.

Choosing a Reputable Breeder

If a breeder claims to have “the smallest pigs in the world,” I would strongly advise against purchasing from them. That is a bold and misleading statement. In fact, Penny the Pig from my farm holds the Guinness World Record for the smallest living domestic pig. You can verify this by clicking the Guinness Book tab.

Additionally, if a breeder guarantees a specific adult weight, do not buy from them. As stated earlier, it is impossible to guarantee the final weight of any animal—only a projected weight can be estimated based on genetics and growth patterns.

It's also important not to believe everything you read online. Many jealous breeders spread false information in an attempt to damage others’ reputations and take business for themselves. Always research the breeder directly rather than relying on rumors.

I have over 40k pictures on my Facebook page of pigs ranging in age from piglets to over 15 years old, along with 30k+ videos. Nearly 90% of the photos I post come from actual customers who own my pigs. Additionally, I have more than two years’ worth of scale photos from a pig I kept from my own breeders, as well as a 34-minute video showcasing my breeders. The proof is there—Miniature Pigs exist, and all it takes is a visit to my Facebook page to see the thousands of photos for yourself.

My Breeding Program

I have the smallest class size Mini Pigs available. For the past 16 years, I have never needed to publicly list piglets for sale because I have always worked from a waiting list. However, I am finally caught up, which I hope speaks to the quality and desirability of my pigs—they are truly worth waiting for.
